How can I rescue a felted sweater?

Monday April 14th, 2014

Unfortunately it often happens that the wash is not perfect, and garments become felted.  But all is not lost. One method for rescuing them is this: take a 10 l basin and fill with warm water with a little of your normal detergent, then add a spoonful of alcohol, a spoonful of turpentine and 3 spoonfuls of ammonia. Mix well and immerse the sweater, leaving it to soak for a whole day. Then wash as normal, using Scala wool and delicates liquid with anti-felting action.
